In the state of Ohio, can a child choose to live with their grandparents other than their parents?

The parents are married. The grandparents have the child and will not make her return home and have filed custody papers against the parents. The parents have 2 other children that want nothing to do with the grandparents. The grandparents have clearly brainwashed the said child into lying against her own parents. The grandparents have no rules and buy the said child anything and everything she wants. The other 2 children will testify to it. The oldest child is 20, the youngest child is 12 and the said child is 16. Also, how can one prove brainwashing in the courts? Thank you.

Update:

There is absolutely no abuse in the home, although the grandparents have brainwashed the child into lying and saying there is. The other 2 children will testify to this. The parents have smoked marijuana in the past, but no longer do and could pass a drug test. Both parents have jobs, the mother has had the same job for 12 years, the father has been in the same business for 20 years. Neither parent has a criminal record whatsoever.

The parents don't have to prove they are fit, the GPs have to prove the parents are unfit. Right now, the GPs are violating the law, they are keeping the child against the wishes of her custodial parents. Their relationship to the child is no more relevant to this than if they were the parents of the child's classmate. That won't go well for them in any attempt to gain custody.

Don't freak out until you see what happens the first time you're in front of a family court judge. File a motion requesting their motion for order of custody be dismissed. It's not that complicated, family court is about the easiest court to navigate next to small claims.

The law is on your side.

    No

Unless there is a proven history of child abuse or drug abuse in the home, no court is going to award a child to grandparents.
