Update:

got him from a shelter monday he is 1 year and 9 months yesterday a all day we couldt find him in the basement he was hiding . finally 12 hours later he came out for food so here is the Q.

i was told that for the first week i should keep him in 1 small room so he gets used to the new home but the only rooms in my huge basement is a bathroom or a nice size boiler room which is like 75/ 80 degrees . is that ok ? please help

As I told you in private message - use a bedroom in your house (spare or your own) to keep him in - you want him to be closer to household activity anld not in a basement. It will take longer to adjust to everyone if he's down there.
