To all the parents: Why do you buy Call of Duty for your young kids?
I just finished playing my brother's Black Ops II game. That was definitely one of the more violent games I've played. And for a mainstream shooter game, there were some pretty graphic moments. There's:
The very first scene of game play, with some kid (18 years old around) trapped in a vehicle, burning alive and banging on the glass. The melting and burning flesh was pretty detailed. Definitely something that can mind-f**k a lot of younger kids, especially considering a large portion of the Call of Duty players aren't even in High School.
Torture scenes. The acting was good. The agonizing crying was realistic and added to the disturbing atmosphere of the cut scenes.
Execution scenes. One scene where a guy uses civilians to try and get someone to talk. The guy shoots some young girl in the head, and again, the crying and acting was enough to make it more realistic and disturbing.
I'm not saying the game was horrifying or as gruesome as something like Saw. But it sure isn't a game for some middle school kids. I've never cared for Call of Duty. Black Ops II was pretty fun. But definitely one of the most violent games I've played. I'm 19, so the violence and blood doesn't really bother me. But this game could definitely be disturbing for some younger kids.
Just my two cents. But I find irresponsible parenting really bothersome.
dear drakham.... that was by far and away, one of the dumbest comments I have ever read on the internet. Have you ever heard of... what do they call those.... sprots.... torts... xbox... sporks.... sports.. sports? Oh yeah, one of those. Are you familior with what these are?
also, CoD doesn't teach you proper firearm use, hot to clean and maintain a firearm, basic survivability, first-aid, etc. In case you forgot...

You need to remember 99% of COD player don't play the campaign(Missions) they only play zombies or multilayer also if a kid does play the single player they are there to shoot stuff

No FPS games are even close to real life; the aiming in games is unrealistically easy. In COD, you can probably run sideways and headshot an enemy from 100 meters away in one hit using a SMG. If you try to do that in real life, you'd probably miss over 100 times before you hit their torso. Also, you'd be down after you get hit once and rather than regening, you'de be bleeding to death if the shot didn't kill you. A medkit or a potion isn't going to do ****, you would actually have to stay the in the hospital for weeks.
You have to relax, since this is just a game. Back in my elementary school days, most of the kids were on Diablo 1&2, Resident Evil 2&3, and GTA 3 & vice city. We were doing worse things to each other than anything that was in a game. Kids are violent to begin with; don't blame the games. If anything, the worst hate speech come with Pokemon references rather than references to the so called violent games. (3rd grader: "I'm a badass Charizard and I'm gonna fry yo Magikarp ***!")

It's because the parents realise it's as good for them as it's as good for you. If it was rated PG you probably wouldn't care about this.

Drakhma, that has got to be the most insane and specious set of arguments ever. "Survive a war?" Playing a game will never steel anyone for killing someone. People who play games will just run around and scream if war broke out.
People let their kids play the games because it's easier to give them what everyone is asking for than be parents and tell them to stop begging. FPSs is making the gaming industry look bad.

spoiling kids. the kid will shut up and not bother you, games also improve coordination and team skills, stratigic thinking and problem solving, cod give your kid survivbility and team skills, he/she will survive is a war breaks out, fallout = nuclear survivability, halo = space invader survivability, and war games just generaly give kids idea on how to survive whather they know it or not

Spoiled little kids are always going to get what they want, their parents don't care. But this review is VERY helpful for parents who are looking to see if Black Ops is ok for them to buy for their kids. This review was helpful :)
