First, let's deal with your Betta's diet. Are you feeding him Betta flakes? Bettas should not be fed tropical fish flakes, as those are not formulated for a Betta's unique needs. It is impossible to give you a number, as flakes are all different sizes. Feed him what he can eat in a couple of minutes. Also, flakes should not be his entire diet. He will benefit from baby brine shrimp, and blood worms as he gets bigger. Just a few times a week, substitute these for his regular food. He needs the extra protein. One day per week, feed him nothing. They have very delicate digestive systems, and this day of rest is essential to good health.

Typically, I discourage people from believing anything clerks at places like Petco or Petsmart say. 90% of the time, they have no clue what they are talking about. This time is the exception, IF they told you the whole story. Female Bettas can live in a sorority tank (all females, no males!). Its actually somewhat common. The thing is, you must have at least 5 females, and at least a 15 gallon tank (figure 3 gallons per fish). Too few fish, or being too crowded will result in aggressive behavior and fighting. With sufficient space and numbers, however, it usually works very well.

I suggest going to a book store or library and picking up a book or two on Betta care. They are fascinating fish, and the more you know, the better you can care for your little guy.

    Good luck!

males and females do fight each other.

You can keep females together, but they need to be in groups of at least 5 to spread out the aggression.

Yes, female bettas can live together in a big tank like 5 gallons. You should feed him a few crunched up flakes per day. And then fast him for one day every week.

feed your betta as much as she can eat in 30-60sec (if she is still baby) , and when she is adult feed her only as much as she can eat in few minutes. any left over food should be scooped out with fish net as it might overfeed the betta or affect the water quality by starting to rote.

Female bettas can live together they need at least 10Gallon tank and they need to be in groups of 3+ but 5 it's better , usually this call betta solitary and their fish tank needs a lot of hiding places , also female bettas should be placed together into the new fish tank so they can establish into the pecking order.

Keeping female bettas can be a bit risky, it doesn't matter if you might keep them in group usually there can be one or two aggressive bettas in that group who might not like each other and fight no matter what. i would always suggest to get another fish tank (5Gallon tank) for seperation just in case if there is going to be aggressive or hurt betta.

yes female betta can live together and feed the baby betta as much as you can. if they stop eating then scoop the food out. make sure you have the minimum of a 10 gallon tank. too big like 25 will make them lost.

Feed him as much as he will eat, dropping one flake at a time as he finishes the previous one. Do this 3x a day.

Yes they can but you need 10+gallons and 6 female, added ALL at once or it won't work and the pecking order will be messed up.

Feed as much as he'll eat in 2 minutes. Feed twice a day, then once a day as an adult.

It's true that females can be together, but they need a much larger tank, plenty of hiding spaces, and at least 5. If you have just two in a small tank, one will likely pick on the other.
