I'm afraid that my story might have similarities with another?

I love writing and I believe I have very original story ideas but I'm afraid that someone might publish something like my stories before i can or that someone has already published something like my stories an don't know of it. I really want to be the first to bring this idea(which i will not mention publicly) to the world of writing, i just know it could be something big someday. and other than that i don't want people to think i copied someone else's work, since i despise copying.

For example like what happened with the Quillan games books, it was published before the hunger games but since Suzanne Collins(author of the hunger games) had more of a known name since she had contacts, her books became famous and even movies. The quillan games is practically the same only way longer and in some ways, better developed.

So i don't know what to do about this feelings, I've thought of copy writing but it'll be long before i fully finish this books, and even with copy write i don't see much of a help on this, in a way.

Anyone else can relate to this?

Think of writing like cooking. Every ingredient has been used before. Many stories share a lot of ingredients in common. What matters is what you do with those ingredients and how they blend.

I can definitely relate. I have been working on a book for ages that happens to involve a love affair between a human girl and a vampire. LOL. I am deadly serious here. And while the story is nothing like Twilight, you can imagine my HORROR when those books came out and became so popular. Now when I mention anything about my storyline, all I get is "Oh, that sounds like Twilight," or "You can't write that now; people will think you're copying Twilight," when I've been writing this thing since long before anyone had ever even heard of Twilight. I am actually putting it on hold for awhile because I am so afraid of comparisons if it ever does get published. If anyone actually read the manuscript, they would immediately see that the only thing it has in common with those hideous books is that, yes, a girl does meet and eventually fall in love with a vampire. But at this point, to everyone on earth apparently, that automatically = just like Twilight. UGHHHHHHHH!!!

In drama my teacher told me that there are myths that every story on Earth is based on 7 original stories. So don't worry because every story has similar ideas to another.

Every story is similar to another in some ways. You cannot write a book which is 100% original. I know already that my book is similar to several others, but the thing that matters is that I have put my own twists on it, done my own plot and so on.
