toilet dual flush problem?

When we flush more often than not it wont stop flushing unless we repress the flush button.

Seems something is sticking.

Plumbers any ideas what I can do to stop this?

Update:

Its the type with a small pipe linking button on top to valve inside.

    Hi. Kev.

You have my sympathy. When the first push buttons replaced the handle there was just one button which was simplicity and worked perfectly.

Then the EU. outlawed these and insisted that cisterns had to be dual flush.

This brought a rash of Heath Robinson devices that were never properly tested and chaos has ensued.

I am constantly getting asked by my elderly female customers to change the cistern back to a handle flush. Push button is painful for arthritic digits and always failing.

In fact I am going to go on ebay right now and see if there are any single push syphons out there.

I know that this is not directly answering your question but you could save a lot of aggro. by going back to a handle flush or find a single button flush.

Your problem is very very common.

One of the push rods is to long saw milometers off with a junior hack saw which will allow the siphon top close.

If it's the type with two push buttons on the top, take the lid off and you'll find that there are two pushrods that work two more buttons that are part of the flush mechanism. Adjust the length of the pushrods so that they touch the bottom buttons without holding them down.
