Windows XP stuck in reboot loop after install of Adobe reader - suggestions?

Just upgrading my XP machine to adobe reader v.11. Installation seemed to go ok, if very slow. At the end it said "some applications require a reboot - reboot now?", so I said yes.

It now boots as far as a blank windows desktop then reboots. Same thing if I start in safe mode, same thing if I go to last known good configuration.

Tried booting from the XP disk. I let it run, it installed a load of drivers, then the PC shut down, I mean actually switched itself off!

Is this likely to be a corrupt program that Adobe has installed which is running on startup? If so, where do I look for it on the hard drive to delete it? Or does it sound like something more serious?

    Hi,

I would assume a corrupted windows installation.

Do you have a backup you can restore from?

Or can you boot from the windows disk and get to the command prompt?

If you then if you go to the directory where the programs are installed you could delete the acrobat files and see if that helps.

You might be able to run such as msconfig from the command prompt and disable as many applications from startup as you safely can to at least get the pc booting.
