when did you stop giving your baby/toddler milk?

my daughter is 2 years old as of yesterday and has reduced food intake as she wants more milk should i continue giving her milk? she eats all foods but lately prefers milk.

she has 9 oz with a daytime nap and 11oz at night -

so my questions are:

when should a toddler be weaned off milk?

when should day time naps be cut out?

With my daughter, she stopped at 20 months, at about the same time she also stopped her pacifier.

My son is a bit different, and if something hurts him he wants a bottle still. He's over 2. I water the milk down, and frankly I'd rather him drink that than to have him suck his thumb.

If I had been able to breastfeed I would have continued until they wanted to stop, if that had been 20 months or 3. If he's not done by 3 years old, then I'll do something to help him along.

I don't think you should wean her off of milk completely. I would give her a glass of milk with every meal. Every other time just do water or juice. As far as naps, my little cousin stopped having naps at 2 1/2 or 3 and she just has "quiet time." She has to go in her room and lay down for 15-30 min with a book or just lay there to relax.

My son has cow's milk everyday and he's 4. Obviously this is from a cup, he had bottles from 6-15months and then I just stopped them and put his milk in a cup. I stopped formula around 2 yrs.

My other son is 16months and I can't get him to drink formula from a cup yet, but stopped bottles at 14 months and I won't be going back. He will drink cow's milk and I use formula on his cereal because I think until 2yrs, formula is better than animal milk.

I think having a nap at her age is fine and gives you a break. My eldest stopped napping at 2 and I was devastated! It was natural for him however and the length had been getting less for months beforehand. I'm hoping my second will nap for longer, preferably until 3!

I don't understand what you mean "weaned off milk". Are you still giving her bottles of milk? My nephew was weaned of baby formula at exactly 12 months and he was also weaned off the bottle completely at that time. He still drinks cow's milk at 16 months but takes it from a sippy cup and is given this at meal times. He drinks juice or water in between meals.

I'm a little confused by your question....

Cows milk is an important dietary need of growing children way beyond 2 years...

If your child likes milk and is not obese there is no reason to limit milk intake other than during illness (makes mucus thicker)....

My 3 year old still loves his cows milk... I hated milk as a child and my mother could not get me to drink the recommended amounts ever.... My son drinks about 2 or 3 cups full per day... He also has days where the intake is hardly any or more than normal... I am not planning on taking it away if he likes it....

I think they should continue to have milk as long as they want as long as you can still produce milk and they are taking it from a sippy cup. bottle is BAD!!! bad for teeth..

Not sure on the milk thing. I think my daughter was around 18 months when she stopped drinking milk a lot. She started eating more regular meals, but still around 6oz. of milk twice a day. I'm not sure what the doctors recommend. I think it's different for all kids, depending on how well they're eating fruits, veggies and everything else.

I think one glass of milk a day is still recommended for calcium and vitamin D.

For naps, that also depends on the kid. My daughter is 3 now and she still has a nap most afternoons for an hour and a half or so. Some kids don't take a nap and go to bed earlier, all depends on the schedule.
