Where do most mlb players live during the season?

Do most of them live in apartments? Would they be close (as in right by) to the ballpark or would it be close but not right next to (maybe 5-10 minutes away)? Just curious! :)

Most of them have a permanent home where they grew up, went to college or spent some time in the minors. Strangely enough for many of them it is someplace warm or near their spring training venue. Often if they are married, it is where their wives are from.

Most players rent condominiums or houses near the ball park during the season. Rentals are important because players are on the road for half the season and arranging maintainers is an expensive and time consuming proposition. Look for a few entrepreneurs on each team though to invest their bonus money in real estate and become landlords for some of the Junior players.

Being close to the ball park cuts down the hassle of driving long distances to the games.

I would guess close to the stadium or in at least the city. I know that Dustin Pedroia lives in apartments across the way from Fenway I saw it myself although at the time I didn't know it was his house.

it depends on the player and his contract. rookies are well known for rooming together or occassionally staying with bachelor vets. married or long term guys tend to own/ have time shares on property in the same city and to be honest except with truly "residential ballparks" its rare to hear of guys living to close to the stadium(dont exactly want followed home by a delusional fan i'd imagine)

Depends on their contract.....players on long term deals normally buy a house or apartment in their teams city.

Players on short deals generally rent a condo/apartment.

it depends upon the player and his preferences. some stay in apartments, some rent a home, some stay in a hotel, some might have a teammate with a large house that they stay in, etc. 5-10 minutes away isn't a key. 30-40 minutes for a nicer situation is worth it.

players are truly just people, like you; they just have more money, and therefore more options.

  • Players live all around the world. Most live in the states but others go back to their home country. With the money MLB players get, I can almost guarantee you they do not live in apartments. Some live close to the ballpark they play for but when a player is traded in the middle of the season, that player doesn't move to that state. During the regular season, all the players live in hotels. During the off season the players live and spend time with their families.

Some don't have a permanent home in their team's city just because during the season most of their season is in hotels in cities up to 3000 miles away. In the offseason they usually live in their hometown or in warm places like Cali and Florida.
