Pontiac grand am gt 2000 car was making noise and leaking?

I noticed a leak under hood then this noise came on a few days later iam driving my car and battery light came on and it became hard to turn left or right and thermometer started going very high I made it to work but I need to know what the problem is I will call around today just need to know if someone can direct me in right direction I am a female that knows nothing about cars. Please help me

    open the hood and see if your fan belt is on the pulleys
