Jesus cursed and killed the Fig Tree, for not bearing Figs. Even though it was out of season.  He did so just to show us that God really hates Figs.  In the book of Psalms 105:33 He smote...their Fig Trees.  In Hosea 2:12 God destroys (her) vines and Fig Trees.
