for me, the way that always is the most successful is just to tell him what YOU know. that you feel him in your heart, and that believing isn't about judging his works and needing proof, its about knowing and believing in him in the absence of all evidence. faith exist in your heart, not in your TV, your textbooks, or your social networking feed.
and you shouldn't be trying to prove anyone wrong. God isn't a "right or wrong" thing its a personal thing that is have to be RIGHT for you. preaching about how you feel and what youve experienced is wonderful, but not to make people feel bad about having a lapse of faith. He has to figure out how to find God on his own, through his own experiences, not through someone telling him. if you tell him "you have to believe in God" and he just does it, its not going to be real. Hes going through some touch times with his faith. it's not his fault, everyone struggles to believe sometimes. in the end, getting through it will only make his faith stronger.

God does not allow children to starve we do! If you care so much about them instead of blaming God why not do something to help them? Look like your friend has an IQ of about 25.
God told us to feed the poor it is because we refuse to obey him that people suffer
Exodus 23:10-11, "And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard."

The short answer is you don't. Have enough respect for your friend to not try to manipulate him or force your views upon him. You can still be friends even though he has different views from your own.

Give him time. I have friends that are athiests and I try to get them invloved in my church/youth group. Tell him what God has done for you.

The fact that you feel compelled to make him believe hat you believe indicates that you are insecure about your faith. If he is happy with being an atheist, what right do you have to annoy him?

You can't prove him wrong because he isn't.

You can't, he's right. Deal with it.
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?” Epicurus.
