We, as a nation, have become afraid of anyone who isn't part of a Jeudo-Christian religion. Heck, he could be Buddhist and that probably wouldn't go over very well with most folks either.

It makes a difference to me because

A Muslim will not coexist with a non believer forever

And to compromise or to water down the Qur'an so it’s indistinguishable from other religions

is punishable by death

I believe a leader should not compromise the fundamentals of their beliefs

Otherwise after they are elected their decisions in office will be unpredictable

Or you lead from what you believe not what will make the public happy

Especially when the public does not always agree

I wouldn't care either. I'm tolerant of all faiths so long as they don't try to cram their beliefs down my throat, or make their own beliefs the law of the land---and for this reason, I'd prefer an atheist president over any other.
