YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED.
Craigslist is meant for LOCAL, IN PERSON, CASH sales only. Stick to that rule and you will be safe.
Ignore any further communication from this person. He is lying.

If you don't know how PayPal works and this is Craiglist, don't sell your laptop to this person, this way. There are so many scams out there for unsuspecting sellers like you. Either the PayPal payment will be fake or it will be reversed off after you have sent the laptop because the money wasn't there or the account fake or hacked. Craiglist is for "face to face" transactions. Tell the buyer you'll only accept Western Union as payment and you'll never hear from them again. Be warned.

I don't like paypal. I feel it is dangerous because i don't see them and i don't know what the heck they do afterwards to my account. Paypal is a company that some businesses set up an account where these businesses have their customers to set up account with them so that they will pay online. Ask your merchandiser how to pay on line - they will lead you to this website. Good luck.

On one hand I can see why someone might want to pay via Paypal - a laptop is an expensive purchase and they might want to put it on a credit card.
However, if they are claiming they have paid already and didn't even come to see the item or have your address this is highly suspect. Who would do this?
Even if you had met them in person I would still be dubious. It's possible for them to reclaim the money back via Paypal if they claim the item was faulty.
Don't take this any further.

it's a scam.
If you're selling through cragslist, you always want to meet up with the person and get the cash from him or her.
Also if that person live in a different state, then it's a scam!
Source(s): me, i've done it before. I sold my flat screen tv for $700 through cragslist, and I met up with the buyer. He paid me cash and we have a talk about the tv and etc.
