how to send email between 2 domains?

as part of a project, I have 2 domains, both have an exchange server and DNS. I woul dlike to send email between them but can't. In both servers I can send email between clients (user1@example.com can send to user2@example.com, and client1@domain.com and send to client2@domain.com) but cannot send betwwen (user1@example to client1@domain.com). the DNS servers both have MX records for themselves and forward lookup tables showing the other's MX records. I can also Telnet into both servers and send email. They both are Server 2008 R2, and Exchange 2010. Any help is appreciated?

Do those MX records have A records with them? Do the A records have the correct IP's assoicated with them?

Look at the message queue on the sending mail server. THat will show you stuck messages and usually has the error as to why it is stuck.

You can email me kfarnham62000 AT yahoo.com with further questions and I can help you through it.
