I am a male 5ft 8inch 220pound and I never work out, what the best way to start?
I am fed up how i look. I have look at picture from 4 years ago when i was 170 pounds. i can't believe i put this much weight on. How do i start as i heard you can get a heart attack if you exert yourself too early and to start off slow. What a good exercise to start with and stick to and get results from. I am approx 40 age and enjoy rum/beer. Thank you

You could try the couch to 5k program. All the information is online for free (including a podcast which is designed to be listened to whilst doing the run, it tells you when to run, walk etc) it is three times a week but i recommend doing other stuff on rest days. Also, subtract about 300-500 calories from your daily intake and start eating healthier. Calorie xounters are availae free inline too. My personal favourite is myfitness pal, which is a free app also. Try to cut down on alcohol and drink more water. Start slowly so you don't give up

Start out slow. Go for short walks, bike ride, etc... After that, start up a strength building program. You can do body weight workouts at a park, for example:
Push-ups
Elevated push-ups
Parallel bar dips
Reverse grip pullup
Crunches
Body weight squats
Lots of stuff to choose from!
The secret to this, is good form, and perfecting the muscle contraction.

Well, you should start with a consultation with your doctor, just for safety.
A good starting out exercise would be walking. Just get your body moving. Walking will start you burning calories.

Honestly if you've kept this lifestyle for so long its going to be hard to change it. Running is definitely the way to go and I would say a mile a day for the first week then increase it
