Question about the brown mucus out of my nose?

I realized that I felt as though I had some mucus in my right nostril. I blew my nose and nothing came out so I didn't worry. A few minutes later, I noticed that when I would breathe, it sounded and felt as though I still had something in my nose. I blew my nose harder and realized that there was about half an inch of brown mucus sticking out of my nose. I had to pull it out of my nose and there was about 3 inches of brown mucus in the tissue. It basically looked similar to a slug as well as had similar consistency and was all in one piece. I've never experienced this before and it was a dark brown/slightly reddish color.

Should I be worried and what is the cause of this? This was on one nostril only and the other one is fine. Thank you.

Snot, mixed with tiny traces of blood from the inside of your nose. It's normal.

The knee jerk reaction established on this constrained history would endorse a extreme upper respiratory infection or kennel cough. Please take your dog's temperature. It must be between one hundred.5 and a hundred and one.5. Whether or not or now not you should take your dogs into emergency tonight is difficult to say since we simply shouldn't have sufficient expertise. If either canine has a fever, then most likely take the puppies in tonight. If either looks like he is in misery, then take them in tonight. If they may be able to settle k, do not have a fever and also you believe comfortable that their breathing is not impaired then you can traditionally wait except morning. The vet will want to run a CBC and Chem Panel on both puppies and you'll frequently antibiotics right away. Situated on hearing the cough, your vet could have an exceptional idea whether or not or not that is kennel cough. If it is kennel cough, your puppies will likely be just great as this is just like a bad variant of the usual cold. In case your vet tries to promote you on the Bordetella vaccine, do not hassle (this is the tip of the day!). It can be a bactrim vaccine that is best potent for a highest of 6 months and there are such a large amount of strains in the market that pretty much the vaccine is all risk and no gain. Good success!
