Would a Pontiac Grand Prix be a good first car?

It is a 2001 Grand Prix with 159,000 miles and an automatic transmission. The guy is selling it for $1300. I'm going to go see it in a few days but I'm not sure whether or not it would be a good car for me.

Update:

I'm 17 and it is just a car to get to work and school.

I have a 1999 grand prix and love it. Ive had it two years now and only had 1 mechanical issue. It's a really easy car to drive plus the heads up display is awesome. Its also has heating seats which are a plus. Only bad part is mine is a gtp so it has a supercharger which is killer on my gas. But grand prix are good first time cars.

  • That's a lot of mileage, but for the price not bad at all. I'm not partial to Pontiac's though. Do you have a family or is it just you? I think a good family car is a Toyota Camry or something like that. I had one of those once and I loved it.

As long as you don't expect this old car with high miles to be reliable it will be a decent car.

What it won't be is reliable. It will be a repair nightmare.
