If you have had Dish or Direct TV, did you like it?
I currently have cable, but I keep seeing fliers for Dish and Direct TV. I've never done satellite TV before, and I just wondered what other people's experiences with them have been. Thanks for sharing.

I've had cable, dish, direct tv, and u-verse. Cable is probably the cheapest. Years ago I got fed up with the service interruptions. It would go out once or twice a week. So thought I'd try direct tv.
Both direct tv & dish are more expensive. They need to put up a satellite on your roof, or someplace it can have a clear view of the southwestern sky. Great picture. Trouble is whenever you have storms, the service will be out until the sky clears up. The packages of each have slightly different channels. If you have favorite channels, check their tv line-up to make sure you keep the channels you want. Both dish and direct tv are comparable. Not sure what the installation rates are anymore, or the contract you may have to sign. Also, possibly a deposit might be needed.
And u-verse. It is not available in all areas. I have found there are times when the picture freezes or the sound is garbled but it it's not that often or lasts very long. I also have a foreign channel from Europe and it is excellent. The picture is consistently excellent, but the price is a little bit more than the satellite services. Also, their channel line-up is a little different from the others.
My final opinion is that I like the u-verse best. 2nd place would be Dish. You may want to search for each satellite service by name and look for reviews or testimonials. Ask your neighbors also since they're on the same block and the tv signal strength or quality should be about the same.
Also, if you live in an apartment, you may need to check with the landlord to see if the dish would be acceptable. If you have your own home, then it won't be a problem. Also fyi, if the dish is installed on the roof or side of the house, all your cables will be run from that spot to the rooms that you have tv's. Some people don't like seeing all those wires. Satellite cabling needs to be RG6. Regular cable wire is not good enough which means the cabling might have to be replaced throughout the whole house.
Compare the channel line-ups & pricing.

Why not save some money and become a cord cutter? Buy an antenna , a Roku box, and subscribe to Netflix. For $8 per month (plus your broadband cost) you'll have tons of cheap or free channels. Not the same as cable but if you like it you'll save hundreds per year.
