How do I qualify for the 2014 Olympics (figure skating)?

Well, hi people! So I was watching the Grand Prix of Japan last weekend and it inspired me to become a figure skater. I've never skated before in my life, but I know that I'd be able to. Since the tricks and twirly thingys that they do look pretty easy, I think that I can become that advanced skater within a month or so. I mean, how hard can it be!?

So, once I've learned to skate and do tricks on the ice, how do I qualify for the 2014 Olympics? Because, I mean, if I can't make it to the Olympics, what's the point of skating? I'm a 17 year old girl, if that helps

Update:

@cathrl69 huh? I live in the USA... And I'm not a troll. Whatever that is.

I thought you were an ice hockey player who hates figure skaters because they're so dumb and annoying? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201210...

    TROLL.

Ok if you want a real honest answer, then here it is:

If you watched NHK trophy you saw Mirai Nagasu, an American figure skater whose chances of going to the 2014 olympics are small even for her because the United States can only send two women to the olympics. Mirai Nagasu has been skating for over a decade, and can land triple-triple combinations. She may make it LOOK easy, but it is not. (Believe me, I know from experience). If you want to take up skating, then do it, take some lesson because it is fun and rewarding to be a competitiive skater. But, be more realistic about your goals. The 2014 olympics is out of reach.

I have been skating for nine years and I can land all of my doubles. I'm not going to the olympics next year because I would need all of my triples to do so.

A skater likely going to the olympics or that has a chance in going there would need to have been part of the grand prix series this season. Ashley Wagner has the best chance, Christina Gao has a good chance, Gracie Gold as well. Somebody who has never skated before has very little chance of making it to the olympics, and that is the truth. Sorry.

There is no way you'll be able to become that advanced in a month. The "tricks and twisty thingys" don't look very easy, and they are even harder than they look.

You must be trolling, because I don't think anyone would genuinely think that figure skating is easy.

By the way, the way to qualify is to compete and place/win at Nationals that year. If you still want to know.

    Hahaha, nice try trolling.

Actually it's not funny. The skaters doing moves that "look pretty easy" spent decades on the ice, taking hard falls, injuries, criticism, and other hardships. It's not something to make fun of.

And FYI, a troll is defined as:

"One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument."

Wait, so...one moment you hold a grudge against figure skaters, and now you want to become one? Hmph, good luck with that.
