Whoever told you he doesn't "pay attention to business" was lying to you. Of course, only a complete moron would have believed it.
Everyone needs time off, especially the president, who has a grueling job.
Even when he is on vacation (which he doesn't do that often), he still is in touch with what's going on; he still gets briefings; he can still communicate with whoever he needs to.
And, if congressional Republicans suddenly decide to NOT destroy America, he could fly back in very little time.
