On the Afghani society, sure. I don't think it's fair to offer an example about Afghanistan, which is an atypically barbaric place, and then somehow extrapolate it to apply to all religion.

on your question, nowhere in the article mentioned islam. can you assume it was islam that motivated this killing? love-hate murders are more frequent in western countries, inclu USA. a UK international daily has endless news on relationship murders more than other news. more often, they involved mutilation of bodies. Afghanistan is a muslim country, that does not make it a totally holy acquiescence one. somehow a man may mend or break based on the level of religion influence on him, his habits & the influence of society on him. some particular middle eastern countries are more violent prone than others, possibly due the kind of fiery diets they have. in buddhism, monks & chinese vegetarians forgo 5 kinds of onions vegetables that are known to spark passions & fly-away tempers.
