Should we bring the draft back?

I bet it would really put into perspective how important a decision to go to war is. When do you even hear of afghanistan anymore? It's truly sad. And Iraq? Are you serious? I bet there wouldn't have been a war, if we had a random draft. People would pay attention, that's for sure, and really determine if it was a necessary war.

BQ- If you are a congressman who decides to go to war, then for your vote to count..You must have a son or daughter in the military and heading to the front lines of said war...seems fair no?

Update:

I think some of you are missing the point. of course it's not going to happen. but if it were to happen..there would be no more war mongering chicken hawks looking to make a buck. A) they would have to send their family b) they would be kicked to the curb by voters immediately. So no more senseless wars.

Sure it never hurt anyone and itll keep students in line in school as I was the last High School graduating class in 1972 and we were always threatened to be turned into the Draft board as a perfect soldier, we were awful good in school. Instead of being in the Army or Mariunes, I enlisted a month before I graduated in the Air Force and the rest is history but I for one would like the Draft to return

Neither slavery nor INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

That is the 13th amendment to the US constitution. Since the draft is a form of INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE, it is unconstitutional and wrong.

Realistically, a draft will not happen. Because this time the sons of congressmen will have to serve and they are not going to let that happen.

  • No, I'd sooner urinate on the president and get jailed for life than let him bring the draft back (which he prob won't, but still!)

Seriously, **** military I did for no one.
