I just got screwed by college admissions as a transfer student?
I'm a first semester freshman in college, almost second semester and I applied to another college as a transfer student for the spring 2013 term. Since I hadn't finished my first semester I couldn't give the college my college transcript so they told me to send my high school transcript. I had applied the year before so they told me they still had my transcript. This was about a month and a half ago. I emailed the admissions department a week ago and got an email today saying that they didn't have my high school transcript so they couldn't even admit or deny me and that theres nothing I can do about it? How is that fair? They told me that they had my transcript and I didn't need to send them anything and now they tell me they don't have it and I can't be considered for admission. What can i do???

I have to say, transferring is a pain as I am in the process of it right now. I can say this speaking for the majority of colleges that they will not allow you to transfer until you have a certain number of credits that equal you to atleast a sophomore, sorry! If possible, just go to the other college and talk to them then they will HAVE to see you and talk to you uninterruptedly. You need to have your hs transcripts sent over asap, I know most high schools have them on file. I'm from North Carolina and when we apply anywhere we can choose on the application to have the transcripts sent. But find out what their admission requirements are for a transfer then re-evaluate this decision.

Don’t you just hate trying to explain things to admission offices.
This is quite bizarre, though, as the TRANSFER Application deadline for most Universities isn’t until spring of this year. Are you sure that they don’t think you are a high school student applying directly? Did you email them the list of classes and the name of the college that you are attending to confirm your transferability prior to applying? Have they received any email or mailing from you that includes your first college name or the classes you have already taken?
They receive tens of thousands of applications this time of year, so it is impossible for them to keep track of conversations or circumstances - unfortunately it means that if you are trying to talk to them right now, you need to include every detail that you can. The first thing that you must do is to go to the University website to their Admissions, Undergrad, TRANSFER page, and verify the transfer deadline. I would not be surprised if it is still a couple of months away.
Good luck!

You can try applying again the next time and just send what ever transcript they want again. Really, how can the admissions keep track of every transcript when they probably get thousands of them each semester.

To be a true switch pupil you must have a minimal required quantity of credits that can *switch* in, not necssarily credits accumulated at your group tuition. If you are beneath this, then you are a new student applicant and will must provide HS records. Genuine switch students do not furnish HS records in any respect.

you screwed yourself
1- it's not college's responsibility to retain student records of students that decide not to attend
2- colleges generally don't accept mid year transfers let alone first-year mid-year transfers
