Do you think there is a hex on the railways in the UK at the moment?

It seems as if every day another poor soul has lost their life on a railway crossing- not forgetting the poor soul thrown in front of the train in New York.

14 year old on a "walkers only" crossing in Lincoln being the latest.

Update:

Absolutely agree with 11 Jun and SW11. That is pretty much what I was saying to my son earlier. It is just that suddenly it is one death a day!!!

Aside from the victims I feel for the train drivers. Not what they signed up for!

I'm certainly not trying to apportion blame, and it's tragic that the teenager lost his life, but I find such deaths are often down to sheer stupidity. How often is CCTV footage released showing morons rushing across a level crossing moments before a train arrives? Is time so precious that some are unable to wait less than a minute for the danger to pass and barriers to be raised? A train will stop for nothing and no-one.

the reason of it somewhat is easy. alerts, crossing obstacles and station bulletins are all operated directly by using the prepare Detection gadget & computers. in case you look on the song, in numerous places a ramp or grid could be considered. those are additionally area of the AWS for trains. The operation of the object relies upon on the variety of prepare and the area from the factor of operation to activation. the 1st is controllable by using the radio sign given by using the locomotive/prepare. the 2nd is controlled by using judgement by using the rail secure practices board and the somewhat engineers who guard the song. it is likewise somewhat motivated by using the ammount of site visitors the line gets (as shorter signalling sections are used on busy lines) and the line velocity score (how briskly trains will circulate). The effect is comparable for preserved railways - yet those basically have a score of 25mph (in Britain), and many times have larger signalling sections.

No there is no hex just idiots who cannot wait a few minutes for a train to pass i know we humans are capable of great acts of stupidity but when you get people who try and sneak round level crossing barriers that are already down it just defies belief or try and get through when the lights come on .

Trains are big enough to see them coming in the distance. If someone is daft enough to try and cross the line when the damn thing is nigh on on top of them that's their fault. The same as idiots who try and drive a car across just in front of a train.

The inferstructure in both your country and the US need to be fixed. The problem is no one knows how to pay for it.

Did you hear of the train bridge that fell apart in New Jersey, USA and spilled toxic gas.

  • Maybe trains are not as noisy as they used to be, and don't toot anymore? They used to be a lot more smelly as well from diesel fuel, so maybe no smell warning as well.
