Where is the consciousness or soul located in the body ?

We feel the consciousness and all the thought process about self in the mind and identify brain as the place of mind. Emotions like anger, hatred, jeolosy etc. are all experienced in mind. But emotions like love, kindness, charity, etc. are felt in heart.

We know that btain is the intricate super computer facilitating all the thought process and comprehending all the experiences through five senses.

Then what is the mechanism in heart to experience the emotions ?

scintificaly speaking no emotion is experienced by the heart it is only the brain which responds to such stimuli by commanding the heart to increase or decrease its pumping rate or whatever, and based on this command from our brain the heart responds and we feel that these emotions are experienced by heart not brain.

    Consciousness,

    The Spirit/Soul,

Who we are is in the Mind

not to be confused with the Brain which is Physical.

The Mind works through the brain

but is not confined to the brain or the Body.

The brain processes information from 5 senses

and the Mind processes from 6 senses.

Anyone who has experienced an OBE "Out of Body Experience" knows that the Body needs the Mind to survive, but, the Mind does not need the Body....so The Physical Heart cannot be the source of the emotions of Love, Charity, kindness etc...

When I am Out of Body, it feels like I have a Body, I am Me,

I just have the ability to travel at the Speed of Thought....

When we speak of the Heart

it is not the physical organ in the body we are referring to,

all consciousness whether physical, mental or emotional starts in the Mind which then signals the brain to respond with the chemical reactions which flood the body with sensations giving the body the ability to feel these emotions all over.

The heart was once considered the center of emotions due to a mis-interpretation of observable data. When we are happy, or excited, the brain causes hormones to be released that increase heart beat, blood flow, and other physiological reactions, especially within the cardio-pulmonary system. It is related to the Fight-Or-Flight reaction. This was mistakenly attributed to the heart, rather than the brain.

What we refer to as the soul is a function of the brain, and is more of a concept, rather than a physical function. Kindness, Charity and Love are all emotions that evolved as survival mechanisms at some point, probably so we could live in groups without killing each other.

Emotions aren't felt in the heart, they're in the brain. The heart is nothing but a pump. (Soul doesn't exist.)

It's kind of amazing that because Aristotle wrongly thought something 2,300 years ago people still have the mistaken impression it's real despite all the science to the contrary.

I don't believe that the soul is located somewhere in the body. Body and soul are intertwined; the soul emanates from God. The friction between the two creates consciousness. Could the body have a "portal" to the soul somewhere? Sure, take your pick. The brain would be a good guess.

Of course, this is only my subjective opinion, and I would certainly not expect to find an answer to your question from Yahoo answers.

The mind is the brain. All emotion is the result of chemical reactions in the brain. The brain is the seat of consciousness. There is no such thing as the soul.

God Is; interpenetrates soul-initiative and matter. If the "soul" elects more of God-goodness, it develops, unto realization. The realizing soul invokes the Sacred Fire (Agni) into his or her consciousness, feeling-world, and physical body temple. This focused Light of God, i.e., Sacred Fire, purifies, transforms, the less-desirable errings and records.

EVERYTHING is felt by the brain, whether is involuntary or not. So, the brain is a physical representation of an abstract concept, called the soul. We define everything by how we interpret it with our minds.

The soul is a minute point of light that can not seen with naked eyes and is situated between the two brows of a person.
