Does it matter? It can. Certain colleges will be more prestigious and having a degree from them will make potential employers sit up and take notice. It can matter because you make connections at college and those connections can help you get a job later on.

But many people get good jobs coming from lower prestige colleges, especially if they graduate with decent grades and have good work experience and good letters of recommendation to help them get started.

I would say your academic honors and outside commitments matter more than where your degree is from. I have heard that employers like to hire people who have many accomplishments, not just academic ones. Employers like to see people who were involved in college and are well rounded individuals.
