I have installed over 100 add a leafs to various vehicles. They work just fine and also stiffen the ride a bit.
If you decide to add a leaf to your YJ springs, be sure to buy the full size leaf (pro comp 13121, not the 13120), not the shorty. The short leaf can eventually bend your stock springs and is much stiffer. As far as install, if you do it, buy a piece of 3/8" all thread and a couple nuts. Once you remove the center pin from the stock leaf pack (springs are under pressure and will shoot apart), stick the new leaf in the correct place (they go from longest to shortest) and use the all thread to hold the pack together. Slowly tighten the nuts until the pack is cinched back together. Wrap the pack on both sides of the all thread with duct tape and pull out the all thread. Install the center pin and tighten. Cut away the tape. Your leaf pack is now ready to go back into your Jeep.
