Marine Corps enlisting?
so i have already been talking with the recruiter. she had me take a practice asvab and i got a 96. i want to do something infantry related (like recon), but i have a feeling my intelligence would be wasted. my end goal is to get into marsoc. that being said, does anyone have some recomendations on a ruote to take?
please, do not say anything about me not being able to make it or that i should focus on boot camp first. im in good physical condition and im improving too.
thank you Bill. i havent asked this question before, but there are almost always those people who are rude and act like they are better than everyone else. i try to avoid saying anything that will help those people.
will---dont say anything if you arent at the least going to answer my question.

Judging from your apparent sensitivity, you've asked this one before and not been well received.
Intelligence is never wasted. If you are intelligent, then presumably you will excel no matter what you do.
Your best bet still is to get information from the recruiter. Perhaps you should tell the recruiter where you want to end up (e.g., Recon) and ask how to go about getting there.
Make no mistake, boot camp will be a hurdle.

Alot of people are under the assumption that us grunts are not intelligent. Many of us score in the mid 60's-mid 70's range I got a 69 and I wasn't a book learner I'm a hands on learner so Asvab didn't mean much to me anyways actually. Anyways there are also those that did score in the high 80's and 90's on occasion that do come into the infantry we aint a bunch of guys that scored barely passing and got stuck in infantry. One thing I should point out though, the RECRUITS that think they are all smart because they went to college usually get torn to pieces, we had 1 in particular... the only one with a college degree and he got in trouble all the time and got us in trouble as well all the time. Quite often those that are book smart are not common sense smart and back talk, or figure their idea is always best etc. and they fail. The recruit I also talked about had the balls to get up in the middle of classes and tell our COMPANY COMMANDER that he was wrong and that he should reread the material as he puts it in our Commanders face, which did not turn out well for him the recruit nor us once again. Whatever you choose MOS wise show up, shut up, and realize you know nothing about the Marine Corps and you are not a Marine yet. If you keep this and mind and are humble wanting to learn you will succeed in any task given you. It is also important though you look at the big picture, what do you want to do after the Marines? what career? or you doing 20 in the Corps? This is also something to think about before picking an MOS so that your training can be for more of a purpose then just protecting ones country etc. I will give you an example, I am infantry an 0311 rifleman and the amount of people that later want to be cops but they choose infantry. Why not pick M.P.? And actually learn the job you are going to do later good grief? Now for myself I always wanted to be infantry so I picked that made sense but to pick something not what you really desire to do when it is an option is just stupid. But with your ASVAB score you have many options on the table so study all the MOS'S out and pick what you are most interested in and what you will be good at.

Your so foolish. You have to be raised with the right mindset to handle high stress anxiety situations. The endurance and strength condition does matter, but your not even considering mindset. I met a navy seal and thats what he told me.
