How does the BMI account for muscle bulk?

I currently have a BMI of 33. Which makes me obese. I have a naturally broad frame and am quite muscular, although I carry some weight.. I would hardly consider myself obese. Seems unfair. I can run for 2 and a half miles without stopping. I mean, how many obese people can actually do that?

It doesn't, it's not exactly the most accurate way to determine body fat. You'd need some type of body calliper to measure that percentage.
