A question about cars and drones and human nature...?

Sometimes when I look at the highway and see the zillions of cars, I think that this would be a nightmare scenario for someone transported here from a hundred or so years ago. They would think we were crazy to build roads everywhere and give cars precedence over humans.

And then I think about drones. I imagine a future where the skies and seas are full of drones tracking us and controlling us and patrolling back and forth.

Just like the cars, will this future nightmare become a future norm?

Update:

Hi Glenn.

>It's not like we woke up one day and decided to create traffic.

No, but it's a pretty obvious progression of events. And equally obvious is the progression of events where drones will be everywhere.

Update 2:

>>So cars are mainly transportation.

Hmmm... and status symbols and little bubbles that you can sit inside and close yourself off from the world. And people behave differently when driving. Driving seems to alter a human's psychological state.

Update 3:

@Alex

>The cars and highways were made because people have to go to work on time.

Lol and now they prevent us from getting to work on time.

Update 4:

@/\

>>And I don't think cars have precedence over humans. Pedestrians always have the right-of-way.

I guess I'm in an arguing mood today. Pedestrians don't have right of way for instance in New York where jaywalking is illegal and on basically any highway, you'll get whacked if you even try.

I'm not saying cars are a bad thing, but the way we use them is not smart given our limited resources, as @michelle said and has said many times before.

    Roads are a good thing.

    They're what link everything together.

And I don't think cars have precedence over humans.

    Pedestrians always have the right-of-way.

As for drones tracking and controlling us,

well, I have three words for that:

    electromagnetic pulse generator..

Source(s): Edit - *Pedestrians don't have right of way for instance in New York where jaywalking is illegal and on basically any highway* But that is not true HF. Vehicles are supposed to give way to pedestrians in all cases, even when they are jaywalking. Sure you might get whacked, but that's still the law. It has to be. I mean, can you imagine if it wasn't?

    Fur,

Driving on the roads today is a test in character. Hold up someone more than 10 sec. and you will get a center finger; a shaking fist; a long lasting blasting horn and sometime run off the road. Forgive them for they know not what they are.

Traffic problems has an answer, we just need to throw more money at them. Faster rail transportation; high speed underground sucking tubs; move more jobs out of big cities in this age of communication and most importantly build big center where people can go to lose the false ego idea and discover what they are, or are not. Slow down and smell the roses.

What this One sees in the future is small community living groups that are similar that never have to leave them. Computer entertainment parkers that will have instant food and clothing delivery service; home schooling; work and banking at home; beautiful meditation rooms; lawn and care service and doctors and pill pushers making house calls. Such communities would have bars, whore houses and churches for the sleepwalkers. No cars needed!

You could be right the drones will win in the end.

    Source(s): What is seen.

No more than I agree that any of us could have no conscience, no kindness, or no ill will. I believe what is affecting us is affecting nature (or vice versa), i.e., we have descended deeply, perhaps too far, into the coarseness of matter. When matter ascends into Spirit and Spirit descends unto manifestation it means for us a more ethereal existence leaning in the direction the masters have taken before us. For nature it also means a change to a more ethereal existence that will dissolve the extremes of the seasons and what grows up will not need to be done so by cultivation but it will put itself forth of its own accord on our behalf, a Divine benevolence. If nature is blind now, or unconscious, it is no different from the ongoing blindness of humanity. Every atom is a part of the Anima Mundi, the Universal Soul.

The cars and highways were made because people have to go to work on time. I think that drones are sci-fi for now. The beleif that as time passes technlogy will advance so far that humans will end up being controled by their creations and having to adhere to being subjugated daily as a norm. It is possible but best to focus on the here and now and not on the future of what "could happen"

"Lol and now they prevent us from getting to work on time."

Lmao Yea I have gotten to work many times because of traffic

They both have their function. It's not like we woke up one day and decided to create traffic. As the population increases, it's more necessary to move larger and larger amount of resources from place to place. And humans as resources are included as well. Then there is a whole industry to maintain that flow of resources. So cars are mainly transportation. It isn't sinister or sad in any way; just a reflection of our evolutionary and technological status. And if it's necessary, then there will be squadrons of drones zipping about. I guess it would depend on the intentions of those in control. That's what we should really be concerned with IMHO.

    ok, here's something to chew on;

there's a thing called probabilities and probable histories and multiple space/time continuums.

we navigate probabilities according to the choices we make.

some will end up following a line of history that ends up worst case scenario/hell/nightmare/life gone wrong and some will follow lines of history of best case scenario/heaven/waking from the dream/life fulfilled to the brim and overflowing.

each of these is literally in its own space/time continuum; psychologically divorced from each other as, say, earth is from saturn

in the case of two indiviuals going there own separate ways, in those terms,

each to the other will seem to have fallen off the face of the earth.

    I found victory in vietnam these last 10 days;

in those terms, I got my papers and the war is over for me.

I'm drinking a beer in a beautiful hotel in saigon, I'm flying home tomorrow, and I found closure on some disturbing haunting issues about someone I truly, truly love, and can put away my sackcloth and ashes, and enjoy my life and pursue my calling.

the more I move in this direction, the better life gets,

will there be drones where I'm going?

maybe, but I'll be one fulfilled f*cking individual:

    "Armor And Sword"

The snakes and arrows a child is heir to

Are enough to leave a thousand cuts

We build our defenses, a place of safety

And leave the darker places unexplored

Sometimes the fortress is too strong

Or the love is too weak

What should have been our armor

Becomes a sharp and angry sword

    Our better natures seek elevation

A refuge for the coming night

No one gets to their heaven without a fight

We hold beliefs as a consolation

A way to take us out of ourselves

    Meditation or medication

A comfort ,or a promised reward

Sometimes the spirit is too strong

Or the flesh is too weak

Sometimes the need is just too great

    For the solace we seek

    The suit of shining armor

Becomes a keen and bloody sword

No one gets to their heaven without a fight

A refuge for the coming night

    A future of eternal light

No one gets to their heaven without a fight

Confused alarms of struggle and flight

    Blood is drained of color

By the flashes of artillery light

No one gets to their heaven without a fight

    The battle flags are flown

At the feet of a god unknown

No one gets to their heaven without a fight

Sometimes the damage is too great

Or the will is too weak

What should have been our armor

Becomes a sharp and burning sword

  • Our pursuit of automobiles as the foundation of transport...

[on a planet with limit space and very limited resources]

may be the biggest case of unpleasant unintended consequences in the entire history of mankind.

Just simply stupid and supports my absurd belief...

    mankind is brain-dead.

The cult of man has become an all pervasive presence on this planet ... it'll only become more so ... we act no better then we did back in the feudal days ... oh things become cleaner and more sanitized and I do like the pain free workings of modern dentistry but what exactly in the human condition has advanced ... ?

Well Gary Numan sang that "Here in my Car, I am safest of all." etc etc. I say that it'd have to be bulletproof or something even crazier, if he wanted to keep safe in it at all. Oh and you know those flying Cars in Blade Runner?, Well...imagine the crashes up in the air, when they become popular!

    well,

    not sure

    drones can control anything,

    by definition..

    ..at some point

    civilization will regress.

before or after such a time

    as you imagine,

    who can say?
