How do i keep my acne from getting worse?
I've had acne for about 4 years now and im a sophomore in highschool. I'd say my acne is about severe compared to most people. Lately my acne has been getting worse and redder all over ny cheekbones and jaw line and its really pissing me off! What am i doing wrong?! Water is probably the only thing i ever drink, i wash my face, (not with any acne treatment brands because they only seem to irritate it so please do not suggest face washes) i eat healthy foods. The only thing i do wrong is that i dont wash my towels, blankets, and pillows often because my it just never comes to my mind. But i KNOW almost everyone washes these items about the same amount as i do so why dont they get acne as bad? I would try the toothpaste method but we only have gel toothpastes and those are not recommended, and i dont want to have to ask my mom to get me perscription medicine to heal it because thats too much trouble. I would use lemons or whatever foods can clean my skin but we use those to eat, not to rub all over your face. I need suggestions on what to do! Im tired of my acne! I just want it to go away but no matter what i do it never leaves! Please help me. Im desperate now, its disgusting.

I've had pretty bad acne since I was a teenager. It was so bad that I ended up seeing a dermatologist because nothing I was doing was working. He recommended using a 3 step system: 1) Mild Cleanser, 2) Moisturizer, and 3) Spot Treatment. Like you, no matter what I tried, it seemed that my acne just kept getting worse. The dermatologist told me to make sure I washed my face 2x a day with a mild cleanser and always use a moisturizer. I also made a conscious effort to not touch my face as to not transfer dirt, oil and bacteria from my hands to my face.
I'm currently using Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser and Blue Herbal Moisturizer. Both have salicylic acid in them, and it seems to be pretty effective in controlling my acne. One note about salicylic acid is that it will dry out and irritate the skin if you overdo it. Because of that, it's very important to moisturize frequently with a non-comedogenic (non-acne causing) moisturizer. You can apply the moisturizer right after you wash your face or use the anti-acne products. If your acne is severe, I'd suggest seeing a dermatologist because they can prescribe something stronger (and more effective) than you can buy over the counter. You can speak with your doctor about these.
If you're in California, there's this pretty cool service that connects people with dermatologists in 48 hours or less (Normally, it can take weeks to get an appointment!). With their service, you receive the same treatment plan you'd get if you went into the office. It's called NoviMedicine (www.novimedicine.com).
Hope that's helpful!

Your water needs to be pure water - clean from harmful toxic chemicals.
Do you keep your hands and hair away from your face. Do you use any chemical free products soaps, shampoos, conditioners, moisturisers, do you wear un-natural materials like polyesters, nylons etc - they cause the body to overheat and cause you to sweat more.
Here is a cheap and natural way you can try: Crush a fresh clove of garlic in to a small glass of warm water and drink the lot. You might want to do this several times a day for a week or so and when your face clears up you may be able to cut it down to taking just one clove twice a week, but you will know. Garlic is natures anti-biotic.
Now with your pillows, towels etc. they should be washed at least once a week. Can you sleep with your windows open to allow your beautiful natural skin to breathe.
And finally, most importantly what are you eating? Consume certified organic or organic fresh fruits/meats and vegetables. Drink pure water. Stay clear of processed/fast and junk foods and drinks they are contributing to your acne.
...wear cotton and natural materials next to your beautiful natural skin. Use 100% pure coconut oil, sparingly on your beautiful skin, eat it, cook with it, roast with it, this is simply the best most wonderful thing you can do for your body. African Pacific Nui Coconut Oil.

I had the exact same problem. you're still a teenager so it could be hormones.i tried everything and nothing seemed to work, my sister told me to dab a little toothpaste on my problem areas, that didnt really work, but it might work for you. i also used tea tree oil because its an antiseptic and that works REALLY well, you can get it from any health food store. baking soda and water works well. i have really sensitive skin so i cant use alot of acne treatment brands but one product i used was called Queen Helene and its an oatmeal and honey scrub its perfect for sensitive skin you can get that from any drug store for like 3 or 4 dollars.another thing that helps is to resist the urge to mess with your face because your hands have dirt and germs on them and also popping pimples can actually make them spread. i dont have acne anymore and thankfully i didnt have scars but you can find any product for removing dark spots. hope this helps you and that you find the right thing you, because i know how it is to have really bad acne.

Niacinamide face cleansing pads are an effective and simple way to keep acne away. Just place a pad on the pimple and watch it fade away. Lavender Oil helps prevent skin drying. Niacinamide also helps diminish skin-hyperpigmentation (acne scars)
Niacinamide pads are also known as Vitamin B3 pads or Nicotinamide pads. Works on body acne too.
Give them a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Acne is caused by acne bacteria and spreads by contact. Disinfect anything that might harbor this bacteria - pillow cases, face towels, makeup brushes ..
Stay away from dairy products and take more water.
