Winston Churchill made this statement at precisely the right moment in the History of Europe. Hitler had just about conquered everything but London and was definitely matching forward.
I think this and other speeches he made were very vital in as far as the war effort was concerned... keeping the spirits of his troops alive, remaining defiant to the matching Germans and all their allies and maintaining hope for a brighter dawn.
