Who likes music with odd and complex time signatures?

This is where Metal and Jazz have a great deal in common. Both genres have some very complex time signatures. In Jazz i use not only the standard 4/4 but also 5/4, 6/4 and 3/4.

I notice Metal uses 7/8 and 11/8, those are wicked sick time signatures.

I also like straight-ahead music with normal rhythms too, but love some exotic tempos and rhythms in music. Do you even notice what time signature the song is in, or does that really matter when you jam out?

I absolutely love em! you really should check out some progressive rock and fusion bands if you really want to get into the crazy stuff. I'm the kind of person who likes to seek out music specifically with odd time just to figure them out for fun. heres a list of bands with some crazy time signatures in their music:

    Banco del Mutuo Soccorso

Bill Brufords Earthwork's (Some of the later stuff has some sick odd time signatures, ie Libreville)

    Brand X

    Bruford

    Camel

    ELP

    Focus

    Gentle Giant

    Genesis

    Gong

    Happy The Man

    Hatfield & The North

    Jean Luc Ponty

    Jethro Tull

    King Crimson

    Le Orme

    Magma

    Mahavishnu Orchestra

    National Health

    Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM)

    Return To Forever

    Rush

    Soft Machine

    Steve Hackett

    UK

    Weather Report (71-79)

    Yes

these are my favorite bands. also check out Jan Hammer's Oh Yeah? album, specifically magical dog and twenty one (guess what signature that one is in :))

I used to analyze music that deeply, but then I realized that it kinda took the fun out of it for me, so now I just go with "what sounds good to me IS good to me". I pretty much learned by ear as it was, instead of the smaller, intricate, complex terms such as time signatures. Even if you asked me while I was in the band none of us probably would've known how to explain it correctly.

I really don't care what the time signature is, but apparently a lot of the music I listen to has complex time signatures. Animals as Leaders, for example.
