Do you consider Asian food taboo?

Seriously, I don't want any Asian answers. Non-Asian people only. If you took a trip to Asia, lets say to tour around with your schoolmates and friends. Would you eat the food there? Or would you refuse to and ask them to cook other types of food and give you a knife and fork? I'm talking meats like dog, frog, guinea pig, monkey, squid, raw lobster, hare, cat, rat, goat, cicada, grasshoppers, roasted maggots. And other foods like tofu, durian, bamboo, white cabbage, green coconuts. What would you think of them? Would you eat them? Why or why not? Good reasons. Please don't just say they are good/bad, coz that ain't a reason lol why are they good/bad? Thanks for your time. I am an Asian who wishes to have your opinion.

My tastes in meat are very traditional North American and I would never knowingly eat any animal I might or do have as a pet (so cats & dogs are definitely out, rabbits & guinea pigs, horses, even monkey are also on my "taboo" list). I understand insects like grubs & maggots are meant to be protein rich. Unfortunately, culturally I'm not interested in eating them; they're bugs, for heaven's sake! I've eaten squid and octopus and find both, for the most part too chewy. I've had cooked lobster and I love sashimi, especially tuna. Tofu, in the right preparation, is delicious. I don't know durian but understand it has a very strong and, to some, noxious odor. Since I like strong cheeses, who knows!

Of course, all this presupposes that I KNOW what I'm being served.

Traveling through Asia I'd probably follow a vegetarian diet anyway so the meat would be moot.

Of course I'd eat their food. If your hung up on it, only vist their McDonald s. Why travel the world and refuse to eat their food. Trying new things is called experience, so why not enjoy the experience. You'd come off as a rather rude human to demand what you want and utinsiles. If you can't handle being a decent human, maybe you best not go with the schoolmates

I already eat some Asian foods, like tofu. I also make my own delicious kimchi :)

I would be willing to try most of those things, actually, mostly out of curiosity. A lot of the things we decide to eat are really just cultural and arbitrary anyway.

No, I love Asian food! If I were actually in a country in Asia, I would definitely eat the food. It's so good here, I could imagine it's even better over there. I love Chinese food, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indian....it's all good!

Not taboo - it is different but if they like it then that is good for them! I have been to china and eaten goat, tofu, marinated duck kidney, durian, dragon fruit! I would never eat and bugs, dog, cat or rats! Thinking about it makes me sick - just not appetizing!

No, I would never eat these foods. I just think they are disgusting. They are fine for the Asian people who like them, but there would only be repulsion on my part.

Since their body is stronger that ours and can tolerate that food they can eat it, but not us, they were born to eat that food. Maggots? Animals and people die from that.
