I'm an American living in Belgium. I used to work as a journalist (arts and entertainment primarily). Since 2002 I have returned to art, drawing (in all media) and painting (oils preferred). I intend to be creative until the day I keel over (and then, maybe even longer...).
What in the name of all that is aesthetically pleasing AND easy to read has happened to Yahoo Answers?
I'm offline for a day and come back to what looks like a dog's breakfast, a near indecipherable mess of different sized type faces & colors and jumbled "text"...
Is there anyway of un- or redoing this?
2 AnswersYahoo Answers8 years agoWhy has Mike blocked me? Did it have something to do with my suggestion about anger management?
Nothing to add. Just wondering why I've been blocked is all.
1 AnswerEtiquette8 years agoWhat are "kunnezaadjes" (or "kunnelzaadjes") in English?
All I have been told is that it's a kind of seed put on "German bread". (It's not apparently caraway or cumin.)
I have tried several on line translators to NO avail. I put this here because I think the chance of a Dutch-speaking person seeing it here is much greater than if I posted it in the Languages section.

And Germany's place in the European Union? Should the rest of Europe be nervous? Elated? Is it time to start socking away food & fuel for an even greater economic downturn?

2 AnswersOther - Germany9 years agoWhy can't I SELECT the "Best Answer" to my OWN question (in Pets/ Cats)?
My question is now in voting. I can't access it to select the best answer (and there IS one I think merits that). Why isn't this possible??? It was MY question, after all...
In fact, what I can do is vote (once), like any other reader. (I wasn't notified of the possibility to extend or anything else, for that matter!)
2 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoIs there anything I can do to keep my kitty from shredding the furniture?
She was originally trained to use a scratching post, but since the arrival of a brand new (fabric-covered) chair, her attention and claws have turned to lacerating the arms. I've moved her post in front of the chair but don't think it is very effective -- if at all! She's 10-months-old and has been spayed. (The chair is my husband's and he's not a happy camper right now!) De-clawing is NOT an option!
5 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat's your take on a (married) man who takes out female colleagues for meals or drinks?
These woman are not clients or trainees at his place of employment, so he is not required to wine and dine them. They are women he knows through working (not old school chums, ex-girlfriends, friends of his wife or the like).
15 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoDoes the Koran specifically state that anyone not a Muslim is an "infidel" and should be killed?
I have been told that the Koran quite specifically says if you're not a Muslim -- or not a "good" Muslim, that's to say following ALL aspects of the Koran to the letter (no interpretation allowed!) -- then you're an "infidel" and all infidels must either convert to "the one true religion" or die.
I find this hard to believe -- which is why I'm seriously asking this here.
Is there such a thing as a moderate Muslim, who allows for the coexistence of other religious beliefs or is everyone meant to convert?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do so many posters in Travel - Germany block their Q & A sections?
And why are there so many new accounts which disappear within weeks -- days even -- of when they're created? Why would posters be afraid to be open and honest here?
4 AnswersOther - Germany1 decade agoHow long does it take to drive (by car) from Brussels, Belgium to Berlin (post code 10115, the Mitte area)?
Are there any tolls along the autobahn? And what are the legal speed limits (minimum and maximum)?
7 AnswersOther - Germany1 decade agoGerman language question: what is the most insulting word you can call an immoral woman in German?
I have heard of Schlampe (slut) and Weibchen (female dog, to be "polite" for Yahoo). Are these really the worst of insults? (I ask because different countries have different ideas about insults. For instance, calling someone an a**hole in America isn't on; in The Netherlands you'd more likely call someone a "lul" -- slang for male "member").
I obviously don't have a good German source!
Help!
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhy are there never any questions about Koln? Is the city THAT boring?
I've heard the shopping is quite good and the restaurants interesting (especially the fish places). Anyone have any addresses to recommend and to dispel any myth that Koln is a "dead" city?
4 AnswersCologne1 decade agoWhat to see and do in Berlin?
I'm thinking of visiting Berlin -- for the first time -- to see what has happened to Associated Press German Service journalists since the DDP has bought them out. I'll be in the Mitte (10115) area and would like to know the "must sees, must dos", particularly in contemporary art and hot, new (preferably fish and/ or vegetarian) eateries. Are there cool cafes there too?
2 AnswersBerlin1 decade agoProtester brings rifle to Obama appearance in Arizona -- has the world gone crazy?
Here's the link (hope I post it correctly!)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090817/ap_on_re_us/us...
In essence the Associate Press story says a dozen or so protesters openly carried weapons, including an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, to a convention center in Phoenix, Arizona, where President Obama was finishing the last of a four-day tour of the western states. (They were demonstrating their "right to bear arms".)
My question is: whatever your politics & feelings about the second amendment, how do you feel about civilians walking around openly with deadly weapons -- and especially in the vicinity of the U.S. President (or any other public official)?
13 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoHas anyone ever gotten a violation notice for using the word "tool" as in "who is the tool in here who"...?
Because (I think) that's why I just got one and I'm wondering where the Yahoo Answers boys & girls draw the line on language.
Yes, "tool" IS a four-letter word BUT is it one of the naughty "no-nos"?
I really would like some enlightenment on this, please!
1 AnswerYahoo Answers1 decade agoHELP! My (ex Tom) cat keeps "spraying" all over the house. What can I do to stop this?
The cat was castrated when he was around one year old. As he gets older (he's now 13), he gets more "aggressive" with his spraying. I used to think it was because he was scared, ie saw another cat outside, was marking territory...BUT he specifically sprays MY stuff (photographs, books) seemingly when I'm not fast enough getting his food or letting him out (he has a clean cat box, plenty of fresh dry food & clean water) OR (especially) if I leave him inside for long periods of time (more than 4 hours). His sister does NONE of the above.
A cat door is out of the question (there are more than a dozen cats in the neighborhood; the house would be Grand Central Station!).
Is there anything I can spray to discourage his spraying?
Right now I'm putting them both outside when I have to be gone for most of the day.
This is the only (of many) cat(s) I have had to do this.

3 AnswersHesse1 decade agoWill she cheat again, the second time around?
My cousin's wife had a disastrous first marriage; she & her husband both cheated. After divorcing, she met & married my cousin 15 years ago.
She's very outgoing, the "life of the party" (without being vulgar), & has many friends, of both sexes. (My cousin is also friendly but a little more reserved.) She travels some for work, sometimes with a colleague (male or female), he doesn't. She also occasionally has drinks after work with colleagues (but it's never late).
They "seem" happy but lately I've been getting a weird "vibe" around her. They're heading for their 40s; what about mid-life crisis?
My cousin is a real sweetheart; he would never cheat. I'm not so sure about her.
What about that saying, "Once a cheater, always a cheater."?
I know it's their marriage but I worry for my cousin. He's one of the "nice" guys!
