I'm offline for a day and come back to what looks like a dog's breakfast, a near indecipherable mess of different sized type faces & colors and jumbled "text"...
Is there anyway of un- or redoing this?

It looks like you have the new (purple) format of Y! Answers. Basically Y! are running trials of a new format which is likely what you are seeing now.
There's two ways (at this time) to switch back to the old (green) format
a) clear the cookies on your browser you are using and this will likely revert you back to the old version
or
b) go to the bottom of any Y! Answers page and use one of the other English language sites sites by clicking on the flag e.g. Canada, UK, NZ, Australia etc. The US site is the only one to trial the new Y!A layout at this time.
