Jim Morisson vs Robert Plant, who did you like more?
Both sang for some of Rock's biggest bands of their era.
Both sang a mix of blues lyrics, and stylistically voiced their vocal pronunciations like old blues musicians, (e.g. they tried to sound like old black dudes such as Robert Johnson and Willie Dixon).
But both also had an esoteric streak and sang about wild far-out tangential metaphors and folklore.
Both had great range, I think Robert Plant could sing higher and Jim Morisson could sing lower better.
Am I forgetting anything? They have a lot in common on a subjective level.
My take:
I was the Doors fan in my household growing up and my bros and sister liked Led Zeppelin. So I absorbed as much as any kid could that didn't see the bands or grow up in the 60's or 70's.
My first ever Rock concert was Robert Plant when I was a kid, about 11. The Black Crowes opened for him and they were crazy awesome loud and jamming. In retrospect, they actually blew Robert Plant's band off the stage. But I was too young to know what I was witnessing. However, I have since seen Robert Plant when he toured with Jimmy Page and that was really amazing.
Still, I give it to Jim Morrison. His voice was richer in tone, he sang about things that I could relate to, the anti-war songs, the trippy Lizard King - I can do anything attitude. Some of his stuff was weird and dark but he always brought it back around with a solid cut or riff about the real subject matter. Robert Plant goes out there and just looses me on so many levels, but I respect him just the same.
I also think Jim Morrison is still alive, and that the Doors know where he lives, some Château de Morrison, where they send him the royalty checks and keep him fed and what not. This will be the one major conspiracy revealed in our lifetime I think. j:)

I utilized my own quote ten years ago with some frequency..."no matter how heavy I like my metal, Jimmy Morrison and the Doors will always be my favorite"
Rock n' Roll frontman icon with the lifestyle to back up the baritone-slung vocal delivery...James Douglas "Jim" Morrison gets my pick
not to take anything away from the Led Zep, of course. Songs like Good Times, Bad Times, the Immigrant Song, and No Quarter are absolute hard rock staples...Robert Plant will always be the "Tall Cool One" that kept it going through the 80's

Jim Morrison he was just born to be a rock star, lord knows what his voice would be like now if he were still alive, though I personally prefer Led Zeppelin to The Doors.

Both are great, but I'll have to go with Jim. No performer quite like him...
