does gander mountain overcharge for their firearms?
I just went in there yesterday to buy a new shotgun and the price for it was nearly 70 bucks over a competitor. This isnt a rant, as i both accepted that they priced it that high and spent my money somewhere else, and am just curious if this is how they run their store prices everywhere or if this is just a wisconsin thing.
Ive even seen a beretta 92fs inox for sale at their store for $880, which if im not mistaken is 80 bucks over msrp.

Gander Mountain changed ownership about 2 years ago or so. It was a management buyout. Since then, the prices at Gander have been higher than they used to be. Also, the selection of quality firearms is not what it used to be.
I can recall shopping at Gander Mountain about 8 years ago and literally having to make two trips back and forth to carry all of the guns I bought in one day. They had the best prices on Browning and SKB over/unders, as well as Remington 870 Wingmasters. In fact, just 2 years ago they were having a sale on Remington Express shotguns. The price was $200 plus tax and transfer fees for the new in the Box Express models. This week I got a an ad in the mail from Gander - those Remington Express guns are now on "sale" for $325.
If you really want to see how high they are compared to others, look at the price of their ammunition! They are about 30 percent higher than Walmart for comparable ammo.

Gander Mountain is way overpriced on anything related to shooting. You can buy the Beretta 92FS for $650 right now on Gunbroker and even with FFL fees and shipping, you are $150 under the GM price. I was just in our local GM last week and they had a basic Mosin Nagant 91/30 in their used section for $225. Buying a gun there is like throwing money away.

Oh yes. For example: The local Gander Mountain sells Glock Gen 4 for $699. Every other shop locally charges about $559 to $589. And these Glocks don't come with night sights or anything for $699...
Rip off pricing.

Right now, there is no such thing as overcharging. For perhaps the first time in history, Gander Mountain cannot be really seen as "overcharging" so much as charging "the current prices".
Which is kind of a switch.
Good luck with that.

gander mountain is always at least 10 percent over market price or about 25 percent over norml pricing on firearms...
as stated earlier though they sometimes have some nice used militery bolt actions and sks cheap
most stores here charge around 350-4 for a nice sks
they have em almost all the time for 249
i think they base their prices off the national average ppaid out the door
which is screwed because there are states with huge fees per firearm (for a great cause, our nations hunting grounds) which gets mixed in
also some states just have strange laws which effect the market in general when considered the norm.....
cali has some of the higher prices so when average with other it brings the national ave up to a point where its plling up prices in chain stores in other states... my advice find a nice clean one for half price used localy from ftf person to person sale if allowed in your state

Yes, Gander Mountain overcharges for new guns. However, I have had great luck looking for used guns at Gander Mountain. I recently bought a M44 carbine for $120, and a 7mm Mauser for under $200. If you keep your eye open, you can get lucky.

They use a regular e-book of values, and subtract a unique percentage. Some treat you very reasonable, others try to rip you off. In the event you do not need a book, go to barnes and noble or equivalent book place and appear on the blue book of gun values and the gun digest of weapons and costs to find out what it is valued at before you try to deal with them. Shoot secure
