If happiness cannot be earned, owned, worn or consumed, how do you believe it can be achieved?

Uhmmm......by earning, owning, wearing and consuming it? *lol*
We "earn" it through the ways we give our hearts away.
We "own" it through a slice of cheery-pie shared by our friends.
We "wear" it on the sleeves of our oversize smiles.
We "consume" it like dietary supplements for a healthy life.
HAPPINESS isn't 'Mount Everest'.....It's right there on simple swings and fun slides. It needn't be 'costly'. :)

Happiness is a state of mind. You can be poor and happy, or rich and sad, as expressed in this poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson, first published in 1897.
Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.
And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.
And he was rich – yes, richer than a king –
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.
So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

Ah, it's a simple two-ingredient recipe. [note - simple doesn't mean easy!]
1. Must have decent behavior. Must do our basic work in a day be reasonably decent to others. Not do anything that makes us feel gross.
2. Must have love. Authentic love with another person. Not god, self, Subaru, etc.
Given those two things, a billiard ball would have no choice but to be happy.
