What is the dot by the moon.?

I see a white dot up and left of the moon. I live south to Houston, so that is my reference.

If you are talking about what I think you are that would be Jupiter.

Yes very bright Venus or Jupiter here this will help http://nineplanets.org/tour

This time of year the first star you see in the eastern sky is Venus and then Jupiter and as it becomes darker they ove higher into the sky until clouse to the Moon. Hope this helps you. PS its not that they are moving as the Earth is turning clockwise to the SUN and orbits also Counter Clockwise.

It is Jupiter right next to the Moon.

Further away to the right and down is the star Aldebaran, a red giant star 65 light years away.

Can you be more descriptive than "the dot by the moon?" Is it luminescent? large? circular? green?

My guess is that it is the planet Jupiter.
