With $800, you can buy just about anything you want, within reason.
Go to a gun shop and start handling as many as catch your eye. See what feels best in your hands. If you can rent them and shoot them at a range, do so. That will help you determine what you like.
Glock, S&W, Springfield, Ruger, SIG... All those and more make fine handguns. Since we don't have your hands, we can't tell you what's best. You're going to have to dig a little and see what works well for you, and see if it's within your budget. The ammunition and holster you purchase will be determined by the firearm you purchase.

With an $800 Budget, there are quite a few decent choices, I recently looked at a Bersa Thunder Pro 40, great gun as far as weight feel and look, they come with a lifetime warranty and they range from $300- $500 so you could still have enough for a holster, and ammo and other accessories. For your first handgun don't get something flashy like a Glock.

There is no right answer, just what's right for you.
Go find a shop/range that rents handguns, and rent a few that are appealing to you. Then you can better decide what you want. Spending that $50-100 or so to decide is far better than spending $600 on a gun you don't like. You also need to pick the size (full frame, compact, subcompact) and caliber (9mm, .40, .45, 10mm, .38, .357 just to name a few) and then go from there.

Buy a M&P .45 or a Sig P250 they are way better than Glock and you will have enough left over to purchase extra magazines, ammo and a holster

I am not a fan of Glocks, don't like the look & they don't like the way they fit in my hand. I would suggest a Springfield Armory or Beretta.
