Hi Miley,
Guess I can help you here..
1st thing, you need to understand that dandruff is not a disease, but an aggravated physiological activity of your own body, and hence it is not really possible to cure it with any medicine or shampoo. What the shampoos normally do is remove the visible flakes and make you happy for a while and of course the scales return after a while.
What we can do is try to get to the root of the issue. I'll just tell certain things that trigger dandruff; see if any of these apply to you and then try to change or escape that causative agent.
1. Dandruff happens mostly at puberty: Due to the increased hormonal activities, imbalances are created in the body and can result in dandruff in susceptible individuals. There is nothing much you can do to escape if this is the case, except controlling the flaking and timing it out till may be like age 20.
2. Dandruff gets triggered by dry climate. This is one thing that most people don't notice. Is your living quarters too dry? If so get a humidifier installed in your living room/ multiple rooms. That does help. As winters tend to be drier, there is an increased occurrence of dandruff during winters.
3. Are you using too many hair styling gels/ does the one you use contain alcohol. Hair styling products are known to trigger the occurrence of dandruff, so just check that too.
4. Are you too stressed out? Stress does cause increased dandruff. Actually, you must avoid stress not just to curb dandruff, but to save yourself from a host of other ailments that can affect the quality of your life.
5. Are you taking regular hot/ warm water baths? If so, avoid getting the hot/warm water on to your scalp. They don't go well together. From my personal experience, I have had a return of dandruff each time I've broken this rule.
There are many more reasons why you could get dandruff, and the ultimate solution in preventing the recurrence lies in finding your personal trigger and avoiding/ eliminating it.
To give you a jump start and get the flakes removed quicker, I would suggest using Nizoral Anti Dandruff Shampoo, but do shift to more natural methods once you get to know the trigger that is causing it.

Well either your scalp is to dry and you need a hydrater for that or your not getting all the shampoo out of your hair which is causing the flakes. It takes more then one time to get all the dandruff out. Make sure that when you wash with normal shampoo your not using a ton, and your rinsing your hair a few times when your done. Look for something rich in vitameins that will help the dry skin. You might want to use the selsum every other time you wash your hair, and switch with normal shampoo. Also washing your hair to much causes it to get dry, so if your washing your hair more then once a day, you should stop. Also if you can go a day without washing your hair, thats very good because of the natural oils in your hair.

1. Reduce using other people's cloths like caps (as they may have dandruff)
2. Bath daily with anti dandruff shampoo
3. use ani-dandruff oil

Simple, take a shower everyday and scrub and rinse your hair at least five separate times and results will start to show depending on how long your hair is and how much dandruff. (Short hair takes a week or so)

use selson blue shampoo. its the only thing that worked for me. and if you don't want the dandruff to return, either continue using the shampoo(but not as frequently) or give yourself a head oil massage every week. that just means putting coconut oil in your scalp and massaging it and leaving it on for a couple hrs and the. washing it

A great remedy that has worked for me is mixing dish soap with shampoo and scrubbing your hair and scalp very hard. The dish soap dissolves all the buildup! Then the shampoo washes and cleans the rest. After a while, rinse it out and it should be better, if not gone. ^.^

Dandruff is one of the most common ailments affecting the scalp. Dandruff is nothing but excessive scaling of dead cells of the skin of the scalp. As you are aware, body undergoes constant but gradual renewal every 24 hours. However, when it is much faster renewal of the skin, it becomes visible in the form of scales, which we call dandruff.
Symptoms of dandruff:
Dandruff, per se, is not a disease but a symptom. Excessive and obvious scaling of skin which is visible in the form of white (grey), flaky substance is the most common symptom (or sign) of dandruff. It may often be associated with itching, oily skin, irritation or redness of underlying skin. It tends to be chronic (long lasting) as well as recurring.
Dandruff could be of two major types: a. Dry (flakes appear silvery and white) b. Moist. (where the flakes appear pale yellowish with unpleasant smell.)
Causes of dandruff:
Dandruff results from rapid maturing (and hence shedding) of the cells every week, instead of every month. Excessive oil (sebum) production precipitates dandruff in many people. This over activity could result from more than one reason.
The causes, triggering factors and maintaining factors can be categorized as under:
Internal causes: Hormonal imbalance, Poor Health, Allergic Hypersensitive, Emotional Stress, Excessive consumption of fat, starch, sugar, Improper Nutrition, Hereditary Predisposition
External causes: Infection (Pityrosporum Ovale or Malassezia Globosa) (Debatable). Excessive use of hair sprays, gels. Improper use of hair : colouring products, hot iron curls. Cold weather, dry indoor heating. Infrequent shampooing of hair or inadequate rinsing or shampooing of hair. Poor Hygiene. Excessive junk food.
Dandruff is often found to be is mostly seasonal. Some patients find it most severe during winter and mildest during summer.
Though Dandruff is called as Dry Scalp but the people with oily scalp tend to suffer the most.
Diagnosis of dandruff:
While concluding the exact diagnosis of dandruff, your doctor often requires ruling out other underlying diseases, which often resemble present like dandruff: They are:
a. Seborrhoeic dermatitis
b. Psoriasis
c. Fungal infection
Your doctor will be able to evaluate your history and the exact diagnosis could be arrived at by a close clinical examination. No biopsy is required.
Treatment of dandruff:
The challenge of treating dandruff lies in the successful control of its relapse. It is not very difficult to treat dandruff for once. However, it is not easy to treat dandruff forever!
The treatment for dandruff should aim at controlling the underlying causing factors as well as the symptoms.
Conventional treatment:
The conventional treatment often treats the end result rather than the root cause of dandruff. Most commonly measures are use of :
a. Anti-dandruff shampoo b. Ketoconazole c. Antifungal shampoo d. Selenium sulphide (available as SELSUN LOTION)
Homeopathic treatment:
Homeopathic treatment aims at treating dandruff in totality. In other words, it treats the underlying cause of dandruff (please check the causes as described above) and hence helps preventing recurrence of dandruff.
The medicinal uses for dandruff are geared towards altering the activity of the scalp tissue and therefore slow down the multiplication of the cells of the scalp. Homeopathic medicines possibly depress the abnormal multiplication of cells of the scalp called stratum corneum. Homeopathic medicines are unique in the respect that they can act as immune-modulators and address underlying immunological parameters while treating dandruff. Homeopathic treatment is safe and very effective for dandruff, which is strongly recommended.

When you wash your hair make sure you get to your skin. Make sure you rinse all of the soap out and don't scratch your head
