chase stopped a bill payment and I do not know why?

I pay my house note every month on my chase account. Well I just got a message saying that a payment from ninety days ago was being refunded because it wasn't processed. So I checked and the money was deducted from my account. Does this mean that the check wasn't cashed or what? Because I have been paying like this for over a year and never had trouble with any payments.
