While they're offering the cheap upgrade for Windows XP computers you really want to make sure your PC can handle it first. Please post the specs of your computer. That will tell us if it's a good candidate for an upgrade.

Ignore anyone who says Windows 8 is mostly for touchscreen. Yeah, it has some touch gestures built in but they're more of a gimmick than anything. I have it installed in my desktop PC sans-touch and it works fine with a keyboard and mouse. It has to since that's still the primary way in which people interact with PCs.

Windows 8 was also in development when Windows 7 was released yet no one called Windows 7 a failure because of it. Windows 8 is nowhere near like Vista.

Okay before buying either one of them... usually computers that have Windows XP aren't that powerful... depending on how you got the computer... so you might not even have the computer power to run either one, but if you do, your probably gonna notice a huge performance decrease.... but thats just assuming that your computer is really old, you didn't post very many computer specs... actually none at all...

like the guy above me said Windows 8 is mainly designed for touch screen although it has a really fast boot time (like instantly booting) and it uses less power then Windows 7, so better for older computers. but if I were you, I'd go with Windows 7, just because I know how to upgrade computers and I don't like Windows 8 lol....

    Hi

Windows 8 is to new its full of bugs.

Its going to be even worst than vista. Microsoft are already developing windows 9 due to windows 8 has caused them to have 3 quarters of loss.

So stay with 7 or even xp.

I have w8 and w7. Win 8 isnt bad on a non-touchscreen computer and it is on sale too. And it has faster boot time as another answerer said. Try upgrading to Win8. The first thing that the upgrade process does is check compatibility. If your system is too old (lets say xp sp2), windows 8 upgrade check will fail due to hardware/bios incompatibility with W8. Then it narrows down your option to W7.

Source(s): working with all three versions of windows and recent upgrade to w8 from both earlier versions.

in case you didn´t like 8 you're no longer on my own, stay with 7, those reward of booting velocity are no longer a great deal a minute to look ahead to 7 is thru far extra effectual than follow a product which you do unlike, the 2nd earnings of mounting isos that for me isn't an earnings because of the fact there are various courses that do skinny between my well known is daemon kit. in case you already attempt linux and you do no longer like it i won't recomnd something because of the fact I even have by no skill use debian yet ubuntu is a sturdy one for me, you could acquire WinE and playonlinux and run the basics on ubuntu, like place of work.

I don't understand the question completely, but getting 7 or 8 (to me) is almost a personal choice. Windows 8 is designed for touchscreens, so -------
