what is a great city to live in, weather and public transit wise.?

So I currently live in Chicago but I need to relocate, as wonderful as this city is culturally and its great public transit system I have to move. I suffer from season depression and the cold weather 6 months out of the year is literally killing me. I was thinking San Diego but I have read so many bad things about it. I was also thinking Miami but not really familiar with the city itself. I am asking for suggestions on a city that is like Chicago but where I can be outside and active most months.

Update:

after getting the first answer I should add, I need beaches, no car and no winter months at all.

A suggestion for your terms the Bay area of San Francisco is close. It has winter but that is rain mostly it rarely snows in the area and it is warmer for the winter than Chicago and does not get extremely hot in summer.

Use Google search look up SAD light. Not expensive it may help you, At least give it a look.

A hint when looking at the PUBLIC transit be reasonable. In some places it may not go everywhere but are those areas that would go to anyway. For once a year or special event maybe you just use a taxi.

Would you consider places with a LAKE and not the ocean?.

    Good luck in your search.

All are effective, yet i could warning you against Minneapolis as its no longer only chilly there yet arctic chilly! winter temps can actual drop to minus 40 tiers Fahrenheit. Seattle could be your suited guess, its a clever, staggering city with great public transportation, a respectable financial equipment and a lot of relaxing issues to do. Portland is a particular 2nd yet Seattle has only somewhat extra rain and snow with consistently cooler temps. suited of success!

Since you love Chicago so much, have you considered light therapy instead of moving? Ask your psychiatrist or your doctor about it, or look up info at WebMD. This method will work for most people, if they stick with it.

Otherwise, check out "Best Places" or "Places Rated" for info on cities.

You can check the Transit Score for 25 U.S. cities at:

On the same website, you can also check which neighborhoods are most walkable.
