Winchester 30-06 SPRG 180 Grain Rounds?

Are the Winchester XP3 and the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip rounds basically the same thing or is there a considerable difference between the two? Which would you prefer to use for deer hunting with typical shots in the 150-200 yard range (fairly open, non brushy lanes)?

The XP3 is a hybrid "premium" bullet very similar to the Barnes MRX;both use a copper front/aero tip that opens into petals and the lower part of the bullet is a combination jacket and alloyed mass to provide weight and to support the expansion of the nose. The Barnes TSX and Tipped TSX do this with all copper construction-just to point that out. The Silvertip is the Nosler Ballistic Tip with the Lubalox coating in a Win/Combined Technology load, and while it is adequate for deer with good shot presentation it is a little frangible for my taste if you need to take a shoulder/quartering shot that has to go deep. The "rapid" expansion is just too quick for me because it doesn't retain weight/momentum as far as the XP3 might. I reload so I do use the Barnes TSX and Nolser Accu-Bonds and even on deer I have had no issues with the Nosler and the Barnes just perform perfectly on everything I and friends have shot. So, the XP3 is going to cost more, and you really don't need it for deer with good shot placement. If you were hunting mixed game like I do then the XP3 is the better option.

    * Actually the Best one to use is the 180 grain Boat-tail Match Grade soft point bullet.* The other one is the Bronze tipped bullet for Best Accuracy and Performance.*.*

You don't need premium rounds in anything .243 Win or larger for deer.
