LASIK/PRK and the USMC?

I know that you can be qualified to get the eye surgery while you're serving. I'm wondering what kind of requirements there are, and at what time can I get it?

I was thinking maybe I could get it done as soon as boot camp is over, but I'm not sure about if there's a rank or time requirement that I have to serve.

no rank is necessary, eye surgery doesnt even have to be necessary, you can always wear the glasses you're provided.. your vision just needs to be correctable to a certain amount

    no contacts

if youre going to get the surgery, you should get it before joining

you won't get it after boot, you will need to be at your first duty station, figure on a couple of years

    how is it done :

when you go to your annual eye exam, you tell the eye doctor you want lasik

the eye doctor will then evaluate your eyes to determine if your a candiate for surgery ( not everyone can get lasik )

then the eye doctor refers you to the lasik clinic on base ( you get an appointment )

then you go to the lasik clinic and they evaluate your eyes to determine if you can get lasik or not

if the determine you can, then you go on the waiting list

when your name comes up on the waiting list, you get an appointment for surgery( if approved by your commander )

IE: your about to deploy, your commander is gonna say no
