What parts do I need to replace an electric furnace blower motor?
We recently moved into a 1987 Fleetwood mobile home with a Coleman electric furnace. The filter was completely clogged and the furnace has a burning-plastic smell. We replaced the filter, but the furnace is still producing the odor. I have read that the blower motors are easy to replace, but I also know that there are multiple parts such as the capacitor. Are these parts separate from the motor? Is it possible that it is another part causing the odor? I have tried to do a visual inspection and can only see a small portion of the fan itself at the opening on the side of the casing. I would like to try to fix this myself for obvious $$ issues. Is there any advice to be had or resources recommended besides the typical "call a professional"?
I've done enough research to give me a "clue" and know that it is unlikely the elements are causing a burning plastic odor. Everything I have read leads to the same conclusion. When a filter is stopped up, the blower motor will overheat and the plastic coating on the wiring gets hot and starts to put off the odor. The motor and capacitor are definitely separate and I have identified the furnace as a Coleman Electric 3400-818. I have found parts available online.

open the front cover, look for a locking screw on the fan base remove it and the whole fan & motor will slide out, [ unplug the wiring harness]

What brings you to the conclusion that the motor is causing the smell? It's most likely something with the heating element causing the smell. Especially considering the fact that all electric heating elements give off a smell when working.
I know it ain't what you want to hear, but save yourself a bunch of problems and money and call a professional, since you obviously don't have a clue.

if the motor is running why replace it what you need to do is give the system a good cleaning it sure sounds like the previous owner was neglectful so take enough time to clean the thing up but not with water or any thing wet
