Atheists: what do you know about the Bible?
I'm curious. If you've read anything recently in a physical / online Bible (not just isolated verses), what books / sections, and why did you read it?

According to studies, the average atheist knows 5% more of the bible and 8% more about Christianity in general than the average Christian

Obviously they don't know that much - otherwise they would not make such idiotic claims about it!
Of course that is one of the failings of religion, it uses the Bible to indoctrinate people into their specific dogmas rather than teaching the whole Bible in context. I would dare say the primary source of atheism is religion, secondary is the Government School indoctrination into humanism. Ghandi for example read the Bible and in particular the New Testament and thought it to be an ideal approach. Then he made the mistake of visiting an Anglican Church and discovered the practice of religion is vastly different than the teachings of the Bible. Those raised in religions generally know less about the Bible than those that studied on their own because they were not taught the Bible but Religious dogma instead.

I was a Christian for 20+ years. I attended a Southern Baptist school K-12, had Bible class for an hour every day. I haven't studied the Bible lately.

I've read the whole thing (by force from parents, aunts and pastors) and I'm so glad that I have read it because after reading that thing I knew god couldn't be real. But let me give you a few scripts to show you what I mean...Luke:14:26, Deuteronomy 23:1, Isiah 40:22...And check "In the beginning god said let there be light and there was light" but on the fourth day he created the sun and stars, where the hell did the light come from before the fourth day? god's light bulbs, lol of course not those weren't created until the 1800's and it sure wasn't god who created it

Enough to not believe a word in it. I had studied the bible for decades, and I mean serious study, but in the end I walked away convinced it was nothing but a collection of fables.
Yes, I have read it in it's entirety numerous times. It's difficult to debate the bible without first doing my homework. In fact, it's difficult to debate any topic without knowing the material.

I was a Christian for 15 years, read the entire Bible. Why do you think I'm no longer a Christian? It's amazing how many flaws and contradictions the Bible has.

I've read genesis, Leviticus, and various passages in the other books. Not the whole thing.
